i keep getting air in the clutch system. I've changed the slave and master cylinder with brand new items. The copper pipe is new as is the resevoir and the hose from the resevoir to the top of the master cylinder. The plastic hose connection is ok also.

When I pump the clutch pedal you can hear all the air bubbling about the cylinder. I've probably done over an hour of 2 person bleeding.

Air is getting in somewhere but there are no signs of leaks anywhere on the system.

I just don't get it....

Fustrating is an understatement !

Thanks if you have any ideas.

Are you bleeding from the slave cylinder up through the master to the reservoir?

I had a very spongy clutch pedal and the best method I found to resolve it was to use a short piece of pipe from the brake caliper bleed nipple to the slave cylinder nipple. When pressing the brake pedal it forced new fluid in and all the air in the clutch system up, which is the natural way for air to escape.

I find the best way to get the last bits of air out is to remove the slave (while piped up still) and hold it with the bleeder at the top, crack the bleeder and press the plunger by hand, then tighten the bleeder before releasing the plunger. On a refitted system that has been dry I pretty much always get some air out even after normal bleeding

Thanks Dan I'll try that as it sounds a good idea.

The problem i have is i can easy bleed the system. Then upon closing the bleed valve a load of air bubbles are seen in the clear tube attached to the bleed valve. I wonder if my bleeed valve is dodgy?

The clear tube is more than likely not perfectly sealed on the bleed nipple, when vacuum bleeding its very common to see bubbles that dont come out of the cylinder, but from down the side of the tube/bleeder
