I have been told the E32 7-series master cylinder is a direct swap for that in the E30. It is also much cheaper. My 323i is a 1984. Does this mean I also have to fit a T piece to fit the E32 master cylinder? Anyone got a good link on the swap?

Ta, but I cannot find info about fitting it to an early non Abs E30. I have heard it needs a T piece fitted. Any guidance?

There's also threads on Bimmerforums, Pelican Parts and R3Vlimited, I did my ABS version, straight swap, apparently you need a T piece as ABS cylinders only have a single front output feed, rather than two, otherwise physical size and fitting is the same.

Thanks. Has anyone got, or know where I can find, a picture of the T piece fitted?

It's a matter of doing it in the way you find easiest. You need a tee piece like the one the divides the brake lines at the rear of the car, bolt it down somewhere convenient near the master cylinder, connect the pipes that go to the two front hubs to two of the ports of the tee, then make up a new pipe from the remaining port to the master cylinder.
A lot of the detail will depend on what facilities you have for making brake pipes, and whether you want to retain the existing pipes to the front brakes or are making new.

You can buy seal kits/rebuild kits for early E30 master cylinders, they are about £20

Thanks for the info. The rebuild kit was a good idea. In the end I got a local place to rebuild my original master cylinder. They did an excellent job with a 24 hour turn around. I bench bled it, fitted it and then flushed and bled the whole system. It now stops very well, with no leaks.
