I've had 2 switchable EH automatics in the past. Nice piece of kit on a 325
The ECU is located in the boot behind a panel next to the radio aerial.
The loom is a fairly thick set of cables that passes through an opening in the boot, under the rear bench, into the passenger sill and forwards to the front speaker panel in the footwell.
The cable will have connectors to the kickdown switch, the console switch, the engine loom and the EH gearbox.
The EH box uses a fancy TPS that requires a special engine loom that allows engine and gearbox ECUs to talk to each other....

Great thanks, after reading all you wrote on that gives me a good starting point, although i dont remember seeing a kickdown switch in the parts that i got with engine and gearbox, so will have to double check the items,
Also the EH box you mention is that the standard box which is used on an 325i?
Should i have this special ecu loom also?
The whole setup which is going into my car was taken from a 325i auto touring, this included the engine gearbox, looms, Ecu etc so i am hopeing its all there...

the EH automatic was a special option, so no, not the standard box.
If you have the whole engine, gearbox and 2 looms then all should be there.
Not sure about the position of EH ECU in a touring. I had a sedan and a coupe.
Make sure you find the kick-down switch as the switchable ECU wants a electrical signal...
Mandatory for when in S mode
