Hello all, another issue I will try to be clear but it's a strange problem..
After the car has been driven for about an hour or so when I'm in traffic and I try to pull away the rear end shakes violently as If something is jammed? Up until this point everything is fine with no juddering whatsoever. My feeling is that it's temperature related something getting hot? Brakes /diff?
When I fitted new rear brakes the handbrake shoes were quite tight against the wheel and they scraped for a while but it went away ,could this be the problem?
Any thoughts welcome as ever
Violent juddering

It could well be something to do with the handbrake shoes binding.
If they scraped for a while after fitment, that tells me that the clearence/adjustment was/is wrong.
Did you slacken off the handbrake cable before fitting the new shoes and then tighten to the correct setting after fitment?
How many clicks does it take to engage the handbrake?

If it's anything to do with brakes, then it will be obvious right after driving with the problem - you will be able to toast marshmallows near the faulty brake.
Nuts on the handbrake cable are for setting up new cables only, and possibly once more after they have settled in. Any further adjustment should be at the hubs only, although in the case of a car with unknown service history, I always slacken the cables off at the lever before adjusting at the hubs, then set up at the handbrke from scratch.

Thanks Brian I checked the brakes for heat they were warm but not hot....when I set them up i used the knurled wheel at the back on each side and only adjusted the cables afterwards. My only thought is that I may have wound the shoes out too much as they were a bit tight against the inside of the rear disc, they lightly scraped even when the handbrake was off...but I thought they would bed in?? Drove the car today no problems at all but all fairly short journeys.
Would a clutch issue be felt at the rear?

Cables were slack when I adjusted the rear handbrake takes about 3 clicks to engage securely but it has stuck on if the car is left for too long..I generally only drive it once a fortnight.

Yes Lsd diff at the rear if it was the clutch would it not be apparent all the time? Rather than after prolonged periods of driving?as I said it does not happen unless the car has been running for about an hour
