Hi there
Newbie here. I am an owner of an E30 318iS and I love the car. It has been a dream of mine since I was a child and saw it in a film in the 90s.

I got one about a year and a half ago and now I have ATF (or power steering fluid) leaking near where the hose goes into the rack assembly. I have seen it closely and it is not a broken or cracked hose but the rack itself.

Now, has anyone had this problem? Is the solution to replace the rack? I see refurbed racks for about £160 on ebay, is it reasonable? Is there any advice you can offer.

Thanks

powersteering fluid you should be using is dexron 2. as for the rack where is it leaking from ? where the pipes go into the rack? if so just change the crush washers and that should reseal it.if the rack is dead just go for a second hand unit they should be good enough as theres enough trusted breakers thats on here or facebook.

Time to upgrade to an E46 rack then, one of the best mods you can do to an E30 8)
