I've managed to take the throttle body off the intake and the upper manifold off the lower manifold to get to the fuel rail.

I basically can't seem to pull the injectors out the head. I think I can just leave all the wiring attached, pull out the injectors and undo the wiring clips on the underside after?

The guide I found says 'carefully' pull them out (doesn't elaborate), but there's nothing careful about the amount of force needed

my fingers hurt

In the picture the nuts holding the fuel rail are still done up. I presume you have taken them off too?

If so, get a biggish screw driver and lever the rail up.

Yep, bolts are off.

I'll give that a go. Thought about it but didn't want to cause any damage. I suppose the rail is built pretty tough!

The rubber seals that hold the injectors in will probably be rock hard, that's why they are difficult to remove.

They will need replacing when you fit new ones.

Also check those rubber hoses for cracks and splits, you'll never get a better opportunity to swop them.

I think someone has had a go at this before me.

Image

The stuff I'm holding in my hand is all the stuff under the throttle body/manifold. The only thing connected to this clump is the pipe back down to the main coolant line below the head. Pipe on the right you can see (that connects between cyl 2 & 3) goes into the main coolant plate.

Weird.

Undone the jubilee clip and bin whats in your hand, then attach the pipe to the stub between cyl 2 and 3 and you are done.

Ok. Someone has definitely done the dirty work already!

From what I can guess, a previous owner has (for some reason) cut all the hose out and done all the re-routing of vacuum line and coolant hose, but couldn't be bothered to take the manifolds off to remove the rest of it. That explains the cut hoses .

Seems to make sense looking at the multi coloured diagram a few posts back and the guide from the Zone.

I take it I can just put the TB back on the manifold without the heater plate then? It will sit closer to the manifold so I'm not sure of clearance. There's only one way to find out I suppose

Cheers guys, long live the Zone.

I've just done this Job, The re-furbed Injectors, are now back on, I also did the Heater Plate delete, car performs better & uses less fuel.

The hose that I moved to bridge the gap between the plastic coolant pipe in between cyl 2 & 3 and the nipple on the head leaks. Are these different sizes? I need to make an adaptor thing I think

Edit: Hose was split

Have you read the Wiki article I linked to above? This explains how to connect the plastic pipe to the cylinder head stub.
