325i sport

The power cuts out for a second then revs fly up and car accelerates hard.

It's not as silky smooth as it was, I can feel a viabration inside the cabin as am accelerating also as am resting my foot on the clutch I can feel the vibration of the engine.

This starting happening after I replaced the clutch last year.

Recent Work done

Fully serviced, cambelt done, clutch replaced last year,
Afm changed, new exhaust

Any ideas folks what I should be looking at

Clutch/flywheel assembly out of balance, perhaps?

Also inspect the engine mount rubbers.

What age is the car? Early pre-facelift 325i had a crank sensor on the flywheel, which can fail causing such issues.

Tech 2, 1989..

Now u mention the clutch/flywheel is out of balance you may be right because the revs come down really slow

Thank you for your reply

I would do the usual checks for low idle speed first - clean the ICV, check the TPS, check for air leaks around the inlet manifold, vacuum hoses, etc.

Update:

The mechanic has advised me to change spark plugs, rotor arm, dizzy, leads and this shud resolve the issue because apparently it is misfiring. The power loss happens around 3-4K revs and then suddenly shunts forward. There is also a strong smell of petrol on cold start now.

The plugs were changed last year and dizzy/rotor arm were changed about 4 years ago.

Leads look in ok condition and I have only done about 6k miles in 4 years since dizzy is changed. I can get it all done for £100, is it worth doing?

While changing the leads, plugs rotar and dizzy, should I look at changing anything else while that's being done.
