Hello Brian
I fitted LED lights to the rear on my Touring. When put into the indicators they messed up the check system.
I have since learned that you can fit in line resistors (CANBUS?).

1) How can the now failed check system be resolved please?
2) Where should the resistors for the LEDs be put please?

Thanks in advance for your help.

??? Indicator bulbs aren't monitored by the 'check' system. They are monitored by the indicator 'relay' itself, mounted on the steering column, which will make the remaining bulb flash at a much higher speed to indicate a failure.
The 'relay' expects a current of around 3.25A, but 3.0A would probably be enough to keep it happy.
The front bulb draws around 1.6A, plus the LED will add around 0.2A, if it's anything like as bright as the original, so you need to engineer an extra current drain of around 1.2A. That will need a resistor of around 10 ohms.
Unlike any other bulb on the car, the power to the indicators isn't constant, so they won't actually dissipate 1.2 x 12 = 14.4W, but it would be a good idea to use ones rated at 15W .
They will get very hot, however, and should be mounted where they can't set fire to anything, like on certain Vauxhalls. In the engine compartment would be best.
They are connected between the blue/red(black) wires and a good body earth, anywhere that is convenient.

Many thanks, Brian. Very helpful.
Sorry about the late reply but your reply wasn't copied to my e-mail even though
it was set to do so.
I am still left with the quandry of how the check system got loused up. Pressing the brake pedal no longer clears the check system and when the mainbeams are on that light fail is indicated (as well as the brake check/fail indicator. The mainbeams (and dipps) are, as normal, standard H1 bulbs. If I put in H1 CANBUS will that make a difference?

Otherwise how to resolved the check system issue please? Interstingly it only seem to fail after LED lights were put into the rear indicators so, since the check system does not monitor the indicators I am left wondering how the presence of one seemed to trigger the other.
