Ever since I've owned my car it's been running rich. (especially after an MOT guy messed with the AFM adjuster, trying to help.) And I was wondering if there was any guides or people in the UK that would be able to tune the engine to a more economical standard.
Was thinking BMW, but I'm sure it would cost me an arm and a leg just to get the thing in their garage.
Maybe an E30 specialist somewhere? Also if anyone has had this done before and knows a rough price for something like this I would love to know.

Where about are you located?
If you're down south, it's worth trying Pacerpete or BSS325i. Although very busy, they've both done top jobs when they've managed to fit me in.

The AFM should NEVER need adjustment. It was set correctly at the factory, and that setting should be good for life.
If the MOT tester was adjusting it, presumably the gas test results were such that it would have failed the test emissions limit - something that an E30 should be able to pass easily. This indicates that there are faults with the engine, such as worn injectors, incorrectly adjusted valve clearances, inlet plenum air leaks, etc., all of which need to be addressed fully before connecting up a gas tester, and finally resetting the AFM adjuster to where it was.
The two mentioned above are both member's on here and should be capable of sorting your car, but you can see, it's not a "while you wait" job.
The largest amount of time will be waiting for the injectors to be rebuilt, which you can save by buying a second hand set, and sending them off to "injectortune" (see our traders' section) yourself.

Yes I have read that about the AFM in the past. Very worrying. I didn't know he was doing it till it was to late..

Don't bother with a BMW dealer very few people working there will have ever worked on an e30 if at all....they will have literally no idea what to do,go with the guys recommended or find an old school mechanic not someone from the plug and play era of car maintenance...
