Can a fuel pump partially work causing a misfire or do they just don't work?

In my experience they either work or don't . a misfire could be a number of things , plug breaking or/ and an ignition lead breaking down . rotor arm defective /worn contacts distributor cap cracked causing damp to enter , have you established which cylinder is causing the problem ?

It's conceivable that a fuel pump could cause a misfire, but the engine would be likely to rev. happily when not under load, and misfire when the engine load is high.
I've never seen one fail like this, and as said above, in practice they work or they don't, and if they don't, a good thump makes them work.
In the other thread you've been asked twice for pics. of the spark plugs, which you haven't posted. B

I had the plugs looked at the other day and they all looked the same and we're normal colour.
