Alright guys, so my motor has got 3-1 manifolds and a Scorpion system (louder than a drunk woman!) And a JR cone filter. My question is- is it worth me forking out for a full air box and K&N panel filter in order to quieten her down/ run better, as I've heard induction kits do a fat lot of f*ck all on the 6 cylinder Beemer engines??
Thanks chaps

A cone filter draws warm (= less dense) air from under the bonnet, so will lose power compared with a system, like OE, that draws colder air from outside.
These cheap cone filters tend not to have proper inlet trumpets incorporated into their design, and have sharp edges instead. These sharp edges disrupt laminar flow and cause turbulence in the incoming air, reducing the quantity of air drawn into the engine.
OE air box and standard paper filter, which actually filters air, unlike anything by K&N, is the way to go.

Cool, looks like I'm gonna be sourcing an original airbox then!
Cheers pal :D
