I used to ride a lot of 2stroke bikes and the procedure rev wise for those was to ride them nicely and as miles went by use them a little harder...

The run in mileage was 500 miles on a bike but not sure on a car

Go hard or go home :D

Just buy the cheapest oil you can, 5w or 10w 40, something from Lidl or similar. Fill it up, new filter. Run it at a fast idle, while you are checking for leaks, bleeding the coolant etc. As soon as you've done this get out and do about 10 miles 2000-4000 rpm, use full throttle but not full revs. Tip don't go far from home :D

Get back, drop the oil while hot, change the filter.

More crap oil in. Another 50 miles, no cruising keep working the engine up to 4000rpm full throttle.

After that you should be done. if its not broken in after that its not going to be. Engines are not the same as they were, theres no need for 3000 mile breaking in periods, rings are made of different materials, and practices, honing in particular, have altered.

A good rolling road can do it on the rollers, and i have done this in the past. Then given it some 7000rpm treatment 8O

You still got that thing nailed to the exhaust manifold :D

Ah ha yes thanks for the advice byron I was hoping you might have some input here as i thought you had built a few engines in you time :D

Plus as well your procedure sounds alot more straightforward than some of the other running methods online

Yes it's still nailed on there hasn't fallen off, yet

:D

Never mind

Thanks for all your input
