Anyone got any tips on how to remove stuck tie rod ends. Not doing the who tie rods, just the ends. I have the clamp thing off both sides but they just wont budge. PB has been on them all day now.

Thanks

Go and buy the whole lot from ECP in lemforder. Not mega money.

You can apply lots of heat and hope they come unseized but usually easier to but the complete assembly.

Find the slot in the internally threaded part of the rod end, wire brush it out, and apply plenty of your chosen penetrating oil. Use a small blunt chisel at an angle in the slot and tap it with a hammer, being careful not to catch the track rod threads. Keep applying the penetrating oil, and attack the slot from both directions.
The tapping will open the rod end slightly, and suck the oil into the threads as it does so. Alternate this with attempting to unscrew the end, and eventually it will loosen off.
Never failed me yet.

Thanks guys.

Brian, I will try your method tomorrow as it sounds good. Also tried and tested.

If a whole day at it doesn't do it, (which I'm sure it will) Ill get the other piece of the tie rods. (already have the ends)

Cheers, will let you know how it goes.

Don't bother. I wasted hours trying to separate them in the manner Brian suggests and whilst I am sure it would be possible in the end, they are a pretty inexpensive part. Just replace the lot and have peace of mind its all new.
