Guys
The "Check oil level" light keeps coming on in my Son's 320. The oil level is fine and the main oil light goes out. Is there a sensor or wiring involved that might be faulty so that I can have a look?
Thanks.
Oil level check light.

Two possible versions of the level sensor. How many pins in the plug and socket bolted in place, right under the alternator, or what is the age of the car?

That will be the later version of the sensor, then, with three wires. It contains two switches, one for static level and one for dynamic oil level.
One needs to be closed and the other open for the light to remain off.
The only known (repairable) fault for the level sensor is for it to become gummed up with oil deposits, and the cure is to remove it and repeatedly dunk it in a baked bean tin of petrol and remove it until what drains out of it is clean. As long as the car is level, you should be able to remove the sensor from the sump without draining the oil, although the oil will be very close to leaking out.
Loose/poor connections in the wiring is also a possibility, if the joints have been abused at any time, and don't forget that if the briefest fault turns the light on, it will remain on until the ignition is switched off.
