afternoon folks,
looking for some advise/tips, just made a start on swaping my tired old clutch slave cylinder & soft line.
got the line undone form the union with the hard line, got the bottom nut off but cannot get the top nut off,
it's not stuck just hard to get to,

i've tried every combo of extension bar/UJ/socket (deep & shallow) from the back of the gearbox but every time i get the socket on the nut as soon as i try to turn the ratchet the socket just pops off.

i've tried what it says in the wiki but that was about as much use as a sick headache.

anyone got any tips/hints on how to get to it?? if you've got pic's then PLEASE post them up so i can see how you did it.

also, the g/box is still on the car as i do not have the room to drop it out so thats out the window.

please help me out as this is one of the last jobs i've got to do before the mot.
thanks in advance.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Shouldn't be any great problem as far as I can remember. Perhaps the nut is damaged, or the casting of your cylinder is a bit offset.
Try undoing the gearbox crossmember and let the rear of the box down a bit on a jack to improve access. There's very little weight on the crossmember, but keep an eye on what's happening under the bonnet, especially to the radiator, as you drop the rear.

cheers for that Brian :thumb:

managed to get it done in the end using just that method, also never knew how many 3/8" extension bars i had lol

also fitted a S/S line i had in the shed as the old one was well past its best.
