Alright lads im trying to remove a crankshaft bolt on an m20 here.
I had a mate throw her in fifth gear with his foot on the brake, while I pulled hard on a breaker bar but it wont judge.
So I am going to look for a large scaffolding pole for more leverage, any better techniques?
It is on axel stands at the front, using this technique there shouldn't be an issues with her bumping of the stands is there?
thanks in advance

Jam the breaker bar against the chassis rail, on a wooden block, and engage the starter motor. But a sheet or similar over it, to prevent the bar flying around the workshop if it flies off.
Large rattle gun is the best tool, of course.

This method has never failed me.Brianmoooore wrote:Jam the breaker bar against the chassis rail, on a wooden block, and engage the starter motor. But a sheet or similar over it, to prevent the bar flying around the workshop if it flies off.

My air gun does sometimes struggle with BMW crank bolts, and my gun is rated to 1200lb/ft I think. I've found that a little heat with the heat inductor helps get them off of you do have an air gun and a heat inductor to hand.
