Hi ,

Was wondering if any one can help , my trip meter and odometer is not working, I replaced all the gears today and still nothing. My speed is indicating fine.

Even when I moved the gears by hand on the old gears the trip and odometer started moving, I replaced the old gears anyway with no fix.

It's a motometer unit.

Any ideas to point me in the right direction ? I suspect it maybe a faulty motor or something along those lines.

Thanks

New one on me. I suggest you give the speedo. circuit board a careful inspection for cracked solder joints.

Thanks for the reply I did have a good general look. The capacitor looked fine to as I know that tends to leak over time

Also my mpg gauge does not swing smoothly almost jerks around but I can move it freely by hand when I had it apart, not sure if this is related at all ?

Probably related. The economy gauge swings from one extreme to the other when it doesn't get a road speed signal, which it should get from the speedo. circuit board.

Ok I will remove the cluster again and try to re-flow the solder on the speedo pcb.
May try and replace the si battery's as well.

While you're at it, there's two joints that hold a large resistor in place, on the main board, near the temperature gauge. Nothing to do with your problem, but they have been badly deteriorated on every cluster I've seen, unless they'd already been attended to.
