Hello! I'm relatively new to E30Zone, but not to E30s. I currently have 2 E30s, the most recent acquisition being a 320i Touring that I am refurbishing.

I finally got the rear washer working on the Touring last weekend, but the joy was short lived. There is a leak from the wiper motor unit. The arrow below marks where the fluid is leaking. It looks to be coming from the joint in the plastic/rubber fitting, not from where the fitting goes into the motor unit.

Has anyone had this same problem? I looked at the rear wiper motor refurb DIY on the wiki, but didn't see any help for my situation. Does anyone know if the fluid fitting is actually 2 parts (fitting + grommet)? Is the fitting removable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Cory

AFAIK, the black part is all one piece, so I suspect it's cracked. Inside the gearbox there's a seal, similar to an oil seal, into which the end of the hollow wiper shaft fits. This seal commonly leaks as well, filling the gearbox with water.

Thanks! I'll try to identify where the crack is and see if I can seal it. Probably also a good idea for me to take apart the motor unit and see what it looks like inside.

Check the pipe which runs through the middle of the motor, it can become blocked and cause pressure/leaks in the pipes.
