Looked at the article and then had a quick look at tha car today ready for tomorrow, but seems a bit tricky to see when the lobes are pointing down. Is there a simple way or is it just by eye?

its quite easy to tell when the lobes are pointing down just by eye there is enough room to see them in the light, i don't think there is any sort of simpler way of doing it, evan if you just run your finger over the lobe you should be able to tell

You don't do it by seeing when the lobes are pointing down, you turn the crank so that the valves are fully open on the other cylinder which is also at TCD.
I.E. Adjust 1 when 6 is fully open, 2 when 5 is fully open , 3 when 4 is fully open, etc.

Sorry for being fick. How will I know when they are fully open or is it that when at TDC one of them will be open, turn again to TDC and another will be and so on.
I would have thought that if done by eye there would be too great a chance to be out of tolerance.
