Hi
I have oil dripping out of one of the gaiters on the steering rack, i have noticed that i have had to top up the power steering reservoir and this is probably why, my question is, can i change the seal and is it one that a home mechanic can do or is it best to get a new rack ?

Knowledgeable people replies greatly appreciated

I've seen rack rebuild kits offered for sale, along with illustrated instructions of how to do the job, but, AFAIK, none are offered in the UK.
An exchange rack, or fitting an E46 rack, is the usual way to go.
If you have an MOT test in the meantime, clean everything up beforehand, or you'll get a 'fail'.
