Hi all I'm replacing the tie rod assembly and a new set of dust boots. Anyway I'm stuck with the inner tie rod. I've bent back the locking plate. Can't seem to get a good grip on the 2 slots. Any ideas on what tool I could use for this. Also where can I get some new locking plates. Cheers

I never refit the locking plates, there's no point in them IMO, there's no force on them for them to come loose. If you are anal about stuff, use a bit of thread lock.
I've never struggled with getting them off with some big grips.

Thanks I've goosed the locking plate anyway. Just going to put some lock thread on them.
Finally managed to get the inner tie rod off borrowed a mate's 32mm spanner did the trick.

Anything built after the E36 (Z3 and onward) does not have cutout for locking tabs anyway.
I was thinking the other day that if they were to come undone the change in your tracking would be so extreme that the car would be all over the road before the joint even came close to coming undone all the way.
