How often (time or mileage) do people reckon the valve clearances should be checked?

Brian, what about seasonal cars..i doubt i will do 15,000 miles in my cabby in the next 15 years.

check every 12 months?

The inspection light will still indicate when a service is due. We're talking about every other oil service, not the clock symbol, which is simply a 365 day timer.
Cold starts will probably be a bit more of the total driving for your car than one that is in daily use, so the light will come on slightly earlier, but not a great amount
