I've discovered the rods at the end of this system are just laying around in the engine bay behind the plastic covers.

I've looked around the headlights for somewhere where they attach, screw, anything.. but can't see anything.

Any ideas or pics chaps?

Unless your outer headlamps are flapping around in the breeze, the hydraulic adjusters have probably been replaced by manual ones. (Unless the headlamp rim has been glued to the grill with black silicon rubber, like on one E30 that came my way.)

The car's previously had a respray, where I'm assuming the front grills and headlights etc were removed. Looks like whoever put them back didnt know where the rods go and just left them unattached laying around by the lights.

I have no idea how it's supposed to look, or even how the hydraulic system works... But I can confirm my headlights aren't flapping around in the breeze.

Thanks Ben..

Although I can't for the life of me see where on there the rod is going in?

Is it the one next to the main beam?

They fit on the outer side, next to the inner wing. As I said earlier, if the lights aren't flapping about, there must be a manual adjuster fitted in their place.

Take a pic and post it here.
You're either missing the black bush that inserts into the light housing that the rod fsnaps into, or the rod is broken inside the hydraulic adjuster.

Look at the right of the headlights in the picture. You can see the plastic pipe from the headlamp adjustment system going into a black cylinder. The bottom headlight mounting pin sticks out of the front of that cylinder.
