E30 325i 1989 has exhaust got a Cat?

Hi, the exhaust mid section is blowing on my 1989 325i, I'm looking for a replacement do they have a Cat fitted and if so can I remove it? Thanks Mike.

If it has one, you can replace it with a standard front box and down pipes. Whether it has one or not depends on whether whoever first bought the car specified one.
If it has a cat., there will be a lambda sensor and wiring protruding from near it., and the lambda sensor socket, clipped to the underside of the front battery tray, will have a lead plugged into it, instead of being capped off.

Anything registered before 1st August 1992 is not required to have a Cat. I believe.
