I have a 1987 325is with a 5 speed manual transmission. Anyways I have had to drive my car by holding the gear shift up so it wouldn't be able bounce of my drive shaft. Finally after about a 45 minute drive I was tired of holding it up. I jacked the car up at my apartment and started looking at the rear shift lever bracket for I heard that the bushings go bad. Well I found that the bracket was completely loose and didn't seem to hold up to anything. My question is that how exactly does this bolt up to my car or what do you suggest doing to fix or go about fixing this mess the bracket in question is peice mark "25 11 1 220 707" thanks for any and all help.

Bolts up to the transmission tunnel with the single stud and nut you can see in this ETK diagram: http://2009.bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/ ... g_parts-2/
If you mean that part #1 has simply unhooked itself from #8, then check your engine and gearbox mounts.

No part 1 and part 8 are somewhat connected but part 8 is loose and can easily move it around. It has the bolt in the back but I couldn't feel the back to see if it had part 9 connected to the stud. Do you know the dimensions of part 9? Thread size and general size of nut.
