Hey chaps,

Can anyone help?

Since the summer I've been getting water in the driverside of the car.

Mainly in the front foot well which is driving me nuts trying to find the source.

I've waterproofed the speaker grommet, checked the firewall grommets from the loom and hyd pipes, the elephants trunk has been renewed and the drains in the sill.

I cant get the car dry enough before it rains again. Other wise I'd have the interior out and systematically wet the car up and locate it.

Are there any other notorious leaky areas?

Under the rear seat is bone dry which I would have thought ruled out the rear light seals and window seals.

The car is parked nose pointing down hill.

Hopefully there's a simple fix that you knowledgeable fellows know about

You might be looking at a rust problem. Bottom of the floor pan, bulkhead or scuttle panel. The foam on the underside of the car around the speaker area is very thick and holds a lot of water and would take a while to dry even if you have fixed the leak.
It's not that much work to remove the carpet, but is a pain as I think the blower motor pinches the carpet over the transmission tunnel and requires unbolting and getting more involved.
I had to do this on mine to be sure the leak was fixed and hang the carpet up for a few days to let it dry. driving it without carpet sounds like you are on a gravel rally stage.

Oh noooooo

Thanks for that, I'll have an in depth look this weekend.

The scuttle is 100% rust free tho which makes me think it isn't a rust problem, the bay is rust free and even the sills and arches haven't got any rust...

I ll get the carpet out and see what's what, will be gutted if the bulkhead is rusty a˜¡

Heater matrix leak ? Been adding any coolant to the car of late ?
It's no bad thing to take the carpet out. I did and used the car without it for a week and did a bunch of little jobs while it was out and had it properly cleaned. Looked and smelled a lot better after.
Look at the bottom of the floor pan for rust in the front left corner where the square plate is. That's a fave rust trap and area for a hole.

OP says "drivers side".

Is it left or right hand drive?

I reckon RHD.

I think it's the drain from the sun roof

I've managed to get a drain unplugger all the way through the passenger side, but can't on the drivers side.

It's pulled out a bit of mud but it doesn't seem to find the end.

Do the drain run through the black piping that runs beside the speaker and back under the side of the drivers seat?

I got that far before the rain set in and had to close everything up

Sun roof drain is through the pipe that runs past the front speaker, but that's where it should end, not run backwards. Pipe adrift at the top and slid down?
Park the car facing downhill, open the sun roof and pour some water into the sunroof gutter, then see where it ends up. Should drip from the front sill drains.

Ah ok, I'll take the speaker out and investigate more.

The unplugger thingy seemed to follow the path of the routing successfully, so (I know they say not to but...) I asure everything is ok from the sunroof the behind the speaker.

Secretly I'm hoping the amount of crap I cleared had done the job, but would like to see with my eyes a cleaner exiting the pipes
