My oil light on the dash has come on this morning but the one on the check panel has not, I have checked and yes I do have oil.

Is this likely to be a faulty switch or something worse?

The Check panel light is for the oil level I think, the one on the dash is oil pressure.

Try fitting another oil pressure switch mabey?

If it is low oil pressure though, there's something more serious wrong :(

The wiring for the pressure switch runs dangerously close to the drive belts on the front of the engine. Check the wiring too. My oil light flickered because the wire was rubbing on the alternator belt.
