There's always the original BMW Premium sound speakers?

I can't think of any other way to mount them there without cutting the shelf, or killing sound quality.

If you have a parcel shelf with unsightly modern speakers, these are the items you'll want to cover them..
Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!

The new shelf i have is a blind shelf uncut seems a shame to cut it.

was just wondering if the speakers could be placed in a different location

I wouldn't use rear speakers in that case.. just tweeters in the doors.. and the front two. You won't get decent sound quality out of the OEM speaker placements even if you cut the shelf.. So you may as well just accept mediocre sound quality and have a decent uncut parcel shelf..
