Hello all
One of my head light wipers have gone very slow and sometimes wont move at all, im guessing its the shaft rusted up, Before i open up the wiper motor can any tell me if there is anything inside the motor that need setting in a certain position, i ask because the motor always stops on the same position when in use, i dont know if the motor is controlled to do this electrically or mechanically.
Thanks in advance

One of the main reasons for these to stop working is due to dirt getting inside the motor and/or the grease just hardening over time. If you open them up, free everything up, re-lubricate, all should work again. I believe the motor has a set* start and finish position

On stripping the motor i found the nylon gear wheel that is held in place by a metal plate to be totally sized it looks like it was rust that had embedded rust partials into the nylon, i also found a set of contact points that were arching, all repaired and motor working ok. For the record the motor does have a start stop position but sorts its self out once run. To test the motor off the car.Gert_8 wrote:One of the main reasons for these to stop working is due to dirt getting inside the motor and/or the grease just hardening over time. This was the LH motor with 3 wires Red, Black and Brown
Connect the black to a constant live, the brown to ground
and the red wire ( which is momentary live) connect this red wire to the live for about 3 seconds to start the motor.
The right hand motor has 4 wires the 4th being Blue
this is the output signal wire to the headlight washer pump.
All i need to sort out now is the washer piping i noted the small intensive wash tank fluid pump does not have a pipe connected and im not sure where it connects to.

Sorted the washer water pipes out, now i cant get the intensive screen (Small Tank) washer pump to work, the pump works ok with a direct 12v feed and has a 12 v supply to and if you ground the pump it works it but it wont work on the switch everything else works ok on the switch, The plug to the pump has a gray and brown wire to it and i cannot find where it goes i think this wire is the problem, i have been trying to find a wiring diagram on the intensive wash but cant any help appreciated.

Correct wiper control module fitted in the fusebox? Intensive wash one has two extra pins.

The brown/grey goes via the two pin plug under the bonnet to the body wiring loom, where it splits into a brown/grey going to pin PS of the wiper control module and a brown/grey going via the wiper switch plug to the wiper switch. Pressing the button on the end of the stalk should connect this wire to the brown (earth) wire.
A surprisingly accurate wiring diagram can be found in the Haynes manual 1948.

I dont have a Haynes but found a wiring diagram on another forum its for an e28 but more or less the same, different wire colour. Got to go back and resort the headlight wipers out now they have stopped altogether.
