fuel pump
Moderator: martauto
hi, i need to replace the fuel pump on my pre facelift 320i, its located outside on the passenger side behind the sill. the one on has been replaced before and there are no numbers or markings on it, the outer casing is blue.can anyone help, there are loads listed on ebay, not sure what to go for. also there is what i think is a pressure regulator in line beside the pump and when i took it of the petrol that came out was a rusty orange colour which is probably why the pump is noisy and not working correctly, can anyone tell me where i can get a new one its all rusted and cant see any part number on this also. cheers scott.

The 'pressure regulator' is called a 'damper' by BMW, and it's purpose was to even out pulses in fuel pressure. It has been deleted by BMW, and should just be thrown away and bypassed.
The likes of ECP, GSF and ECP's offshoot, CP4L all list the pump for your car, but be aware that the usual cause of a noisy pressure pump is failure of the lift/primer pump in the tank that was fitted to some models.
If you have this pump fitted, there will be a two pin plug to whatever is under the RH fuel tank inspection hatch, as well as a three pin one.
