I have a 3 door chromie with a m52 conversion I have been building for just over a year. The bodywork and engine is pretty much sorted now. Next on the list is to sort suspension.

I need bushes and arms etc front to back. And new springs and dampers.

As a temp measure I put some cheap (apex) 60mm springs on. The car sat far too high at the back in comparison to the front. I therefor had to temporarily "modify" the rear springs for it to
Sit level.

I do like the low look... I know it's not to everyone's taste. But now I'm getting old the ride is much more important. So what the best shocks / springs to go with for it to sit lower without compromising ride too much. Also I need it to sit level.

I was thinking bilstein b8s with h and r springs. Maybe 35mm
drop?

H&R Sport springs with Bilstein B4 or B8 are popular I believe.

I've seen lots of people refer to H&R springs by their height (35mm) rather than name, such as OE Sport, Sport, Race and Cup. Which ones are the 35mm ones?

I've got b8 bilsteins on my 320 with -35mm h&r springs. The car has 205-55-15 tyres and the ride is very good. Handles quite nice. As a comparison my wife has a 116i sport (new car standard) and the ride is quite similar but a little less travel on the BMW in the big compressions. All of my bushes are old though except for the lollypops which can take the sting out of bumps. Just my thoughts. I'm 35 so I like a nice ride too.

The -35mm springs I bought were the sport ones.

H&R cup kit is one of the best budget wise, or you could go down the custom spring route (which i did a while back) from this place http://www.coilsprings.co.uk/ not cheap but at least they will be wound how you want them.
