I've read a thread about E46 rack rubber boots bellowing because the E46 rack boots vent through the hollow E46 inner track rods. So is this actually a problem? (It's not mentioned on the wiki). And what is the best choice of track rods for an E46 rack, is it E46 inner and E36 outer?

Both my cars have e46 racks,i used e30 tie arms and tre's..the boots do suck in so i put 2 8 th holes in the end rubber disc's at the ends on 6 and 12 oclock positions to allow the air to get out. using e46 boots

Does this method not let dirt and grit inside the rack?
I have the same problem on full lock where the boots compress and suck in
