Hi Guys, I have just taken ownership of a 93 318i Lux Convertible. I had an E30 325i 17 years ago and currently have an E46 330ci msport.

There are a few issues that I have not come across before and was wondering if some of you could make some suggestions where to start.

1. When lowering the roof it needs a push of about 10 inches to get it going and needs pulling down the last 10 inches went putting back up. (when sitting in drivers seat)

2. Heater fan not working, nothing happens when you turn the dial.

3. Rear quarter light window gets stuck at 2/3 going back up.

4. Door catching/banging/clicking when opening or closing.

5. Tonneau cover/roof cover not locking all the way down.

Buying parts like mirror glass, better at dealer/europarts or ebay?

Is that the same with trim etc?

Any help would be great, these are just a small amount of all the other issues I need to sort.

I presume this is an electric roof? You always start and finish the opening and closing process by pushing the roof back and pulling it forward to close it.

It is not like modern cars where it disengages and re-engages locking onto the front windscreen.

Your rear windows should drop down all the way. The horseshoe roof cover should lock down completely - an adjustment may be required to the opening/closing levers, or more likely, something has been bent out of shape.

Buying parts can be done here, there are several sellers, such as Pacerpete or B7 that may be able to help you. Dealers/Europarts and Ebay are also good if you are looking for new.

The heater fans likley knackered but check fuses etc just in case. heres an oblong cover on the bulkhead behind the engine, ( the c101 connector is bolted to it and the wiring runs over it ) just look for the 8mm bolts that run round it attaching it. Remove this and the heater fan motors right in front of you held by either 1 ot 2 clips. Undo the clips and lift the motor and rotor wheels as one thing & replace with a sh part. As they say "reassembly is the reverse of removal "

Great, thanks so far guys.

Its at my mechanics today for a service, MOT and a check over to make sure nothing needs doing asap. Its a keeper so I will be fixing it up slowly over the years, storing it over winters.
