Just a few questions regarding the heater fan motor on the e30 .
Are all the motors the same through out the range and are the z3 motors the same as on the e30 ? Thanks in advance .

Two different motors, depending on whether aluminium or plastic pipes to the heater unit.
Same two motors are used in at least some Z3s.
Unusual for an E30 motor to need replacing. Most respond to careful cleaning and lubricating.

I need a new one, mine sounds like it a slow starting helicopter behind the dash...

Sounds like the bearings have gone on the unit

Well take it out and service it! It's not behind the dash, BTW.

The noise sounds like it wobbling about like the bearings have gone in the motor if they have bearing in the blower

yeah, mine sounds the same. I'm sure there are bearings either end of the drive shaft and when they have a bit of play in them the fan blades hit the outer cowling as there is a very tight tolerance. This is one job I haven't got round to finishing yet so if you source the correct replacement bearings, let me know.
