I have a 325i convertible and the hood doesn't fold away completely. it is an electromechanical unit and seems to sit proud when the 'horseshoe' sits down on it as it attempts to complete the sequence.
I have disconnected the motors in an attempt to get the hood to fold away manually but it is still 'proud' of the car body.
it looks as though it needs adjusted to allow it to fold away completely but i am unsure as to where to start?
I will upload photos of the predicament once i have them, but any assistance would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if it'll help but when a manual roof closes, you need to make sure that the sections and belts tuck in properly. Over time, the belts detach from the roof (stitched on) and the roof doesn't compress properly and you can't close the horseshoe.
