how low??

Hi guys, my e30 was lowered on some springs by the previous owner, i want to replace all shocks and springs and would like to keep the ride height the same... however i dont know what springs were used, does anyone know the distance from the arch to the ground on a standard car so that i can measure mine and work out what size the springs were, or is there a simpler way of working this out that im missing...

car is a 1990 318i.

A 318i will be about 15mm higher than a 318iS
