hi guys,
after some help really after a month of being out of action with my e30... im really beginning to give up.
Got a M20B25 engine,
high comp
1.3 mtronic
lightened flywheel
speed touch chip
Ran brilliant since having it, then after doing a really hard right hand corner it died. Since having low fuel and a unbaffled tank i though this was a understandable thing.
Would run after half hour of fiddling. Then it ran strong for 3 hours and once again 2 right hand corners at a round about..... dead. This time no luck. Would crank and fire a little but not enough to run.
Got it recovered and thought it was fuel pump so that got changed to a £25 ebay one.
Fitted; ran brilliant for a week. Then bam again car dies and wont run for very long before dieing all together.
Recovered again and brought a genuine working bmw 325 pump this time £60.
Ran for a day and again died and wont run, managed to get it to run enough to get home but from then on cars undrivable.
So a little list of what ive done since its been of the road.
Checked all fuses
Relays
Earths
Fiddled and cleaned whole engine loom, and connections
Checked battery power
Crank shaft sensor
Fuel pressure regulator
Ran a direct feed to pump
Chanceg fuel filter
Checked intake boot
Check for leaks
Cleaned AFM
Coil had oil in top so thought might be that, brough a new one and the same still.
Pump is getting correct voltage
Blew lines out
Changed Temp sensor
So now i really am stumped. Waiting on a replacement multimeter to start checking resistances but i really am frustrated!
It will start and run fine maybe for a minuite then the engine will nearly stall like the coil lead has been pulled off. Then misfire for a bit and then die.
Rev counter dies completly like no power to the DME.
Last thing to change now is the main lead to the coil and if not that the ecu.
Anyone else have any sugestions?

IF you are certain that the rev. counter drops instantly, then the problem is not fuel or injector related, but is due to a loss of ignition signal, which can be crank position sensor, ECU, or loss of a supply to the ECU.
Mate,
Check the wires that connect to the crank sensor, they run close to the front pulleys and the retainer normally falls off causing the wires to rub on the pulley until it cuts into it and shorts out the signal. If this is the case just tape up the two wires and cable tie the wire preventing it from re-occurring.
This has happened to two of my E30's
I hope that my input has helped, if it has then please let me know.
