Check Control Panel
Moderator: martauto
Just wondering can you fit the check control panel to cars that didn't have one factory fitted?

a bit
, but would it be possible to keep the check control panel illuminated after the warning lights have all gone out? Or maybe wire it so it comes on with the lights? It would be nice to have a bit of illumination up top.
Kedge, no idea about your query, sorry!

Kedge, I would imagine it would be a huge job, but not impossible.

I really want to do this but have hit a small snag. Are there 2 types of check control for E30s?? In the diagram on e30.de the multi-pin connector is shown having 28 pins, but mine only has 26. Is there anyone who's done this mod' who can steer me in the right direction?

yeah that crossed my mind, but it looks as if the only thing disabling the seatbelt warning is the lack of bulbs! And as the article's on a german site i'm assuming it's a euro' panel (no seatbelt light). Hmm, i don't know whether to go ahead and scratch out the path to my pin 25 or to the pin 25 as depicted in the diagram.

good question! if you use this link
http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... uage_tools
and click on DIY and then body/interior, and then the third article under the 'instruments' heading. It sounds very easy but the picture doesn't match what came out of my car!

take off the plastic cover by prying the bottom out with a flat screwdriver. I removed the circuit board by putting a screwdriver into the empty bulb spaces on the left and carefully easing it out. The only point of connection is on the multi-pin plug so you can try pulling on that too.

johnono, after trawling around some scrap yards, it does seem there are 2 types of check control panel. sealed units and ones that can be split. If you had trouble seperating yours it could be cos you have the sealed version. Anyway, i picked up a couple more and will experiment later. If i suss it i'll send you a spare as i feel sort of responsible for you breaking yours!

im giving it a go today anyway, and iԚ´ll be carefull this time
