i think this is where the relay goes for the oxygen sensor heater if your car has a cat fitted will not need a relay if your car has no cat

As dasparkybad says. White one is main DME relay, orange one is fuel pump, and the missing one is for your non existant lambda sensor heater. Unused four pin socket for the lambda is under the battery tray.

Most facelift e30's were cat ready, the ecu has the necessary circuits and that relay socket is there. All that's needed to fit a cat is a cat exhaust/lambda sensor and an orange relay in that socket.
Having said that I'm 100% certain that the centre socket on mine is the fuel pump relay and the right hand socket is the o2 sensor relay which is fitted even though ther's never been a cat
Cheers,
Iain T

If you put a cat on, you lose power dont you? Is there any reason for putting a cat on (if its not illegal to not have one on?) other than to pass an emissions check ?
I hope you can understand that

I thought they looked in the wrong order too. The individual sockets unclip easily from the bracket and can be replaced in any order.Templ8e30 wrote: Having said that I'm 100% certain that the centre socket on mine is the fuel pump relay and the right hand socket is the o2 sensor relay which is fitted even though ther's never been a cat![]()
