Will powder coating the rocker cover make it lose heat slower?
Anyone had one professionally polished? Was it mentaly expensive? I find the paint is good for about 2 years only.

Any form of coating on it will inevitably create some degree of heat insulation, so it may well retain heat for longer than if left bare metal.

Plenty on here have had them polished, either by themselves or professionally. Price would depend very much on whether you did it yourself or farmed out the work to someone else.

Don't mean to jump on the thread, but what's the best way of getting a normal silver M20 rocker cover back to showroom condition?

Emily, Kos has asked me to say this. Your infatuation must stop, he likes you but he's spoken for. :(

Now I have to tell Steve......

Jozi got a better than new finish by vapour blasting the engine and then using ACF50 to stop it oxidising. Looks much better than paint imo.

Mitchen

These guys are the ones to use:

http://www.trestanfinishers.com/

proper old school shop, old boys in lab coats, they polish all the raised bits also.

Prices are still stuck in the 1970s also.

Well worth a trip. I'll be going down soon, I could always add your stuff to my batch.

My ears have been burning :D

The guy I used is nice chap called Elliot over towards uxbridge/iver ways

If that's close enough for you I'll post up the details Mitchen

Xavier , I actually use a powder coated rocker cover on my e24, it's just easier to maintain than a vapour blasted one. I've not had any issues from this and it's held out fine.

Price wise, well it's hard to say how much it cost me because I take so much crap to the blasters and powedercoat coaters it's near impossible to say how much it set me back. It wasn't what is call expensive.
