Right chaps I have a E30 cabby 325i on a K plate so a 1993.

Reason for engine swap:- auto gear box has more or less gone and engine isn't best condition either. Feel a more modern engine will give me a better drive and reliability, please advise if you feel other wise?

Engines I'm looking at:- e36 325i or 328i or the e46 variant. Guys can some one actually give me the names or codes of the above mentioned engines? Thanks

Not too fussed with top end speed, just want to cruise really, is there a huge difference in performance and fuel economy from the 2.5ltr compared to the 2.8ltr engine?

Is it even possible to use the e46 engines in a e30?

A must is I want to keep the transmission auto.

If any one can give me an idea of cost and point me in the direction who could actually complete the conversion for me would be awsome?

I plan on start buying all the bits I need ASAP but firstly need to decide what engine?

Look forward to your reply's

Thanks

Haven't seen many k plate 325 cabs, I think you should service the engine and get yourself another box have a good switchable auto box here if needed.

Why not ask one of the reputable sellers on here if they have a decent engine and gearbox to replace your worn out one.
Surely a 325i auto cab was built for your specific purpose.
Cruising.
