In the ETA 2.7 build wiki it states "open up the tops of the inlet ports using a 325i inlet manifold gasket as a template to accept a 325i inlet manifold". I take it this means I enlarge the openings where the manifold attaches to the head? Is it an easy task to do in the shed, or does it need to get done by a professionsal?
Do I use a Dremel?

you can do it in your shed using a dremel type tool.

But do take great care to remove ALL debris from the cylinder head, not a job to attempt with the head attached to the block!

Stuff some greasy rags into the ports to help collect the swarf.

good point daimlerman, do it with the head upside down, and the exhaust side raised about two inch's higher than the inlet side, any swarf should then fall out of the port.

I had visions of our Austrailian friend trying to do this with the head still bolted into the car...I know that they are upside down, but gravity will still work,I guess! :D
