After two years of troubleshooting niggles, financial ruin and many hours in the garage, my 323i resto nears completion. As is always the way, the minor things are taking forever. Here's where she stands now:

I need help with the prefacelift outer Hella lamps. In short, my existing lamps are tired, I have the new inners already. My outers bear the Hella part number 301126257. Nearside and offside appear to be identical. I can't seem to cross-reference these or locate them for love nor money - can anyone please help?! Thanks in advance....

Dishwasher tablet crushed up and left to soak in the lamps works well.

^^^^^ i'd be very careful with that. The reflectors are very easily damaged. We've all seen how they go once the moisture builds up in them. And if yours are already tired, any water will wreck them.

I already tried 'oven baking' the light unit to remove the front lens so as to demist the inside. The lens did not come away cleanly, so hence I am now looking for new units. I managed to cross-reference the inners and found a French ebay seller called mister-auto selling them for £33 each - delivered. A trip to the main dealer for these is my last resort. Even just a cross-referenced part number would be a lifesaver right now......

Your cars looking fantastic ! I need a nice pair too, as b7 says the reflector shouldn't be touched it just rubs away, I replaced a condensaty unit with a nicer one but has a bit of reflector wear ,they are different each side as the ajuster holders are in different places

I also bead blasted and powder coated the casings, and re painted the backs of the lamps and replaced the ajusters
