Hi only 3 days in to my first e30 325i 1986 and the speedo and mpg gauge are not working. I have looked at the circuit boards on the back of the speedo and it looks like someone has already tried a solder job and overheated and damaged the board. HELP!!!!

What help do you want? Get another cluster and fit it in. Job jobbed.

Where can I find a 1377607. Nearly all the clusters I have found are a newer part.

Sorry, didn't notice you already said '86 in your first post.
Presumably your cluster is one with the cylinder coding on the back and an extra LED for the SI indicator. AFAIK, later clusters are a straight swap, as long as they have a six pot coding plug pushed into the front corner, and the fuel gauge matches your tank size.
I wouldn't be too certain that a fresh cluster will cure your problems, though. Most speedo./MPG gauge faults originate in the wiring to the back axle, rather than in the cluster.
Can you post some pics. of your damaged board?

i'll post some on the weekend as the cluster is back in - using app on phone for speedo!!
I had a good look at the wiring and no breaks obvious and the dust boot was good and the connections looked fine.

That would be the case. The breaks are caused by a change in the structure of the copper wire at a molecular level, as a result of vibration from the diff., which cause the wire to fracture internally, leaving the outer plastic sheath untouched. The length of wire must be replaced, not repaired, to effect a lasting cure.GMANN wrote: no breaks obvious .
There is also a known fault which occurs in the cluster which could be the problem, so don't go destroying the wiring at the back just yet.
