I'm not sure whats going on here, but a few days ago I noticed that my obc m/g was getting worse. It usually sits at 27.9 m/g but its dropped to 22.4, so I reset it and its sitting at 7.1 m/g. It doesn't change.

Its an E28 by the way, but as far as I know its the same as an E30 obc wise.

I was rustling about behind the dash the other day trying to sort out an aberrant abs bulb. What have I screwed up?

Whats the interaction between the gauge cluster and the obc that could cause this?

on a e30 the signals are sent from the clocks to the obc, vehicle speed and fuel rate if its not getting these will give you issues.

As stated the connection is simple and via the SI board.

Thanks guys, I've narrowed it down a bit. The average mph was slowly going down, so I reset it and despite doing tens of miles its still sitting at zero, so its got to be the mph feed from the cluster to the obc.

Its funny how, when you get into other things, problems always crop up elsewhere . I've got V70 front brakes on the go (and maybe handbrake pads), R50 low speed fan and air con clutch and E10 servos. I'm getting to old for this.

I have the diagrams ready at home so can tell you the wire you need once I get home. (well on an e30 anyway)
