318 to 325i swap temp needle not working as it should ???

Hi there also have a problem with my e30 that's had a conversion from a 318i facelift to a m20 325i the temp needle is not working as it should has a slight flicker that all

Temp. gauge needle flickering is usually the brass nut on the back of the cluster.
Another possibility, after an engine change, is that the SI board batteries have finally failed, after being left disconnected from the main car battery while the conversion was carried out.
