Hi Guys/Gals

Had my autobox taken out today. Problem is: There's an electrical connector with 2 connections on box (left side facing backward). And cable running up to where selector is.

Does this mean it's a switchable?

I don't have a sport mode switch in the car.

The new box I'm installing doesn't have the connector. Will this be a potential problem or not?

A switchable box is governed by its own ECU which is situated on the inside the boot behind a panel nearside rear wing on the left . It has a 21 pin connector with a wire running to the connectors you describe. If you don't have the ecu or switches on your centre console already it sounds like it has already been replaced with a non-standard box. Unless the engine ecu had also been modified previously in some way your replacement box will probably work with just the connectors to the selector. I have to say that I have no actual experience of swapping different gearbox types although I've had E30 autos of both types for the last 20 years!
