Has anyone got any pics of the way the hoses for the above
are supposed to run in conjunction with the rack itself?
W hat I know should be a straight forward job is turning
out to be a right chore.
Car in question is a 92 316i touring, and I'm changing like for like racks, well I'm trying to. :o:
TIA.
Rob.

Not really Cloggy, but that's my fault not yours, so thanks anyway.

I meant the hoses that attach to rack, when the rack is in situ.
Seems whichever way I try, I can't get room to get the hoses on to
the rack itself. Should have taken photos before I removed
them and the rack. Looking at both the old and "new" rack,
they both look identical, probably me being a cack handed coont.

Have managed to beast the rack and pipework into
the locating slots......... however ..... how do you get the knuckle on the
steering shaft onto the splined part of the rack?
There's little to no movement of the rack itself, when it's in it's slots,
and no downward movement of the knuckle .....

To fit my z3 rack I split the steering UJ in two, put either end into the wheel end of the shaft, and the rack end carefully as to not damage the splines (I actually did and had to file some splines down with a thin hacksaw blade), then I tightened up both ends, then finally brought the two halves of the steering UJ together making sure I tightened all the bolts one turn at a time so it came together equally.

Oh then I noticed the rubber part of the UJ was close to the manifold, so I wrapped everything in heat resistant foil tape.
