Hey.

I was wondering if m3 speedo sensors were the same for a 325i? Ive got a standard 325i differential, where the speedo sensor is sealed with alot of black glue, which you use for the front screen for example. Not sure what its called, but my gauge has been living its own life for a couple of weeks.

But heres my problem, i want to change the sensor, but its full of glue and even the plug is hidden behind the glue, so its not possible to check the wires without cutting off the glue, which probably will make the sensor leak.. So im sure the former owner had a problem with it leaking there.
So i just wanted to know if the M3 sensor is the same as on a 325i? I cant seem to find any info.. Any brainiac on this point here?

There are pre and post facelift versions, with different connectors, but apart from that they're all the same.
You can test in situ by removing the instrument cluster, disconnecting the white plug, connecting a continuity meter between pins 8 (brown) and 12 (brown/red), and rolling the car along.
The meter should read continuity and open circuit in turn, several times as the rear wheels do a complete turn.

And If not, there is a bad connection between the plug behind the gauge to the differential, or even the sensor itself right?
