I think my thermostat is not working

Took the cab for a drive the other day and it started to over heat, I never let the needle go past about 2 o'clock position where that marker is. So I gave it a mega bleed as per all the good advice on here etc etc.

Took it for a drive again today and noticed the temperature carried on rising steadily. There was no drop in the rate of increase as it passed 11 or 12 o'clock.

And normally when after turning off the engine for a while, when you re-start the cold slug of water in the rad drops the temp slightly. No change at all in mine.

So I'm pretty sure the thermostat is not opening

would you agree?

I've got an 80 degree and 88 degree spare, what would you recommend fitting

the termostat would be my starter for 10, i only use oem stats as ive had a couple of run in with poor quality aftermarket parts over the years.

i also ended up getting a vacuum bleeder as the M20 was a bit of pig to properly bleed by hand.

New stat fitted with largish extra bleed hole and all is prefect again
